Our Story

Bringing refined baked goods and savory food to a community that appreciates small batch.

Three Daughters Baking Company was born after Pastry Chef Erica Leahy decided to leave the restaurant industry in order to focus more on her family.

We wanted to be more present with our three girls; we wanted to show them the value of working hard; we wanted to contribute to our community. Thus, Three Daughters Baking was born! It began with a simple email a few weeks before Thanksgiving to friends and acquaintances asking if they were interested in ordering some holiday desserts. (Spoiler alert: they were!) A few more holidays and many celebration cakes later, Three Daughters moved operations into Garden State Kitchen, an incubator kitchen designed for burgeoning food businesses. This move allowed us to sell more products in pop-up shops and farmers' markets.

The opportunity to open our first retail shop inside the General Store Cooperative was both thrilling and incredibly frightening.  This situation gave us a chance to bring our dream to life without taking on an entire space of our own.  We were drawn to the Cooperative because it provided an immediate micro community within the broader South Orange-Maplewood Community.  A group of new entrepreneurs coming together to not only get their businesses started but to also bring a truly unique experience to friends and neighbors.

Another draw of the Cooperative is its location. Springfield Avenue in Maplewood had not had a scratch bakery or artisanal coffee shop for years.  We knew we wanted to bring our refined baked goods and savory food to a neighborhood that would appreciate small batch, hand made goods.

We are proud and excited to be part of the Springfield Ave community!
